    TABD Note of TEC workshops and High-Level Panel  
      
    On June 29th 2009, TABD, BusinessEurope, the US Chamber, Amcham EU, the EABC and the USCIB, with the support of the European Commission and the US Mission to the EU, co-hosted a series of working meetings in Brussels on the various Lighthouse Projects contained in the Framework for Advancing Transatlantic Economic Integration as overseen by the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC).

    The purpose of the event was to sustain momentum and to make progress on the TEC agenda. The conclusions of the workshops were later fed into a high-level meeting chaired by TABD Co-Chair and Business Europe President-elect, Jürgen Thumann.  Vice-President Verheugen, the Czech Minister of European Affairs Mr Füle, MEP and EU Chair of the Transatlantic Legislators Dialogue (TLD) Jonathan Evans, Ambassador Ulrika Barklund Larsson, from the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU and the Chargé d’Affaires at USEU Chris Murray, shared their perspectives on TEC.

    On May 6th, 2009, the TABD, EABC and EPC Global, with the support of the European Commission (DG Infso) and the US Department of Commerce (ITA), cohosted a long-day conference, entitled “2nd TransAtlantic Symposium on the Societal Benefits of RFID” in Brussels. On the previous afternoon there had also been a successful networking event for companies and others involved in the development or application of RFID technology.
