2009 U.S.-EU Summit

The 2009 U.S.-EU Summit took place on November 3-4, 2009 in Washington D.C. Click here to see TABD's Recommendations "Building a Transatlantic Innovation Economy" submitted to the Summit Leaders ahead of their meeting. A joint EU-US Summit Declaration, as well as a press release on the new U.S.-EU Energy Council, was issued following the Summit.

 

4th TEC Meeting

The 4th meeting of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) took place in Washington D.C. on October 26-27, 2009.  In advance of the meeting, a Report on the  EC.-US High Level Regulatory Forum was issued. "We are very encouraged that TEC is back on track", agreed James H.Quigley and Juergen R. Thumann, co chairs of the TABD, in the press release issued following their attendance at a debriefing session hosted by TEC co chairs, Michael Froman and Guenter Verheugen.  An official message to the EU-US Summit, as well as a Progress Report were formulated by the TEC co chairs.  A Joint Report on US.-EU Financial Markets Regulatory Dialogue can be read here.     On October 8, 2009, TABD, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, BUSINESSEUROPE and the US Chamber hosted a conference under the auspices of the Swedish EU Presidency on:  "The transatlantic barrier-free market - How do we get there?". The report of the meeting is available here.
